2011 SAG Awards Fashion: The Goods, The Bads, The Surprising

February 1, 2011 by Unknown

Okay. So here’s the thing. I love Tina Fey. LOVE her. But, I absolutely loathe every single thing she ever wears on the red carpet. It’s always almost there…but just misses. Sometimes it’s too small, or the wrong color, or the wrong shape…always something. BUT. You guys. Finally. Finally! Tina Fey gets it right. I mean…look at this:

Another surprise for me was how much I liked Mila Kunis’ dress. I usually don’t like fabrics like this or patterns or drapiness. But I absolutely loved this and thought it was a perfect SAG Awards dress.

THE GOODS:
Natalie Portman does pregnancy better than she did at the Golden Globes. I can’t wait to see what she wears for the Oscars.
saggood1.jpg
Lea Michelle looks fantastic in Oscar de la Renta.
saggood2.jpg
Julia Stiles! I love her look! Her hair looks lovely and this dress is soooo pretty.
saggood4.jpg
I love Glee’s Heather Morris in this. It’s nude, which I don’t normally love, but this is just perfect for her.

THE BADS:
Jenna Fischer. OMG. I don’t really have the words. There is absolutely nothing RIGHT about this ensemble.
sagbad1.jpg
I usually LOVE Amy Adams but this totally does not work for me, like, even a little bit. She looks like she was wrapped, badly, in an ace bandage. She looks small in all the wrong places and big in all the wrong places. Not a good choice.
sagbad2.jpg
Oh, Angie Harmon. REALLY?
sagbad3.jpg
Oh, Melissa Leo. WHAT IS THIS? I really hope she is unexpectedly pregnant…because girl looks like she forgot her Spanx at home. That, or her dress arrived three sizes too small and seven shades too shiny. DISASTER.
sagbad4.jpg
I really want to like Claire Danes’ dress. Mostly because I kind of don’t hate this material and I think it’s a super flattering shape for her. It’s THE BELT. Far too swashbuckling for this soft of a dress. Also, she looked REALLY shiny.

I agree with you hands down
Although I am fascinated by Angie Harmon’s dress — don’t know why – but truly fascinated by it

Tina Fey looks awesome. Mila’s dress is doing good stuff for her rack, but I don’t love it, while I wish Lea’s dress fit her chest better, because if it wasn’t falling off her, it would be lovely! Julia Stiles looks lovely, love it, but I think Heather Morris’ dress is too bland a colour, and too close to her skin tone – she kinda looks next to naked.
But the bads? Oooooh, the bads are BAD. Angie Harmon looks like a feather duster, and that gold fabric wouldn’t help ANYONE. Claire Danes is pretty close to good but there is something off – maybe it is that belt, maybe it’s the hair, I dunno. She’s not too badly off, though, next to those others. *shudder*

If we swapped Danes for Stiles – I’m 100% in agreement with you! My god I wish that I looked like Natalie when I was pregnant….
angie harmon…OMG – trying so hard – so Penelope at the oscars like two years ago.
Ali – pantsuit on Julie Bowen? Thoughts…. very creasy….

One request, can you put people’s names under the pic? I can’t tell who some of them are and want to comment! Not sure if I am blind or out of it…
    But Tina Fey looks fab!

I agree with you 100% Ali.
I think Angie Harmon ready my Trend Watch column last week and took the ballet theme a little far (think Pink Swan). Unfortunately she looks like she’s molting.

Natalie Portman is so adorable, I could cry. And YES! Tina Fey!! Finally a dress that works for her… she got good help this time, methinks.

I think I *want* to like Angie Harmon’s dress, or at least the idea behind it..I don’t know.
I’m so glad Natalie Portman chose a better dress and holy hotness Julia Stiles.

I really wanted to like Claire’s dress…it’s was just…the belt. I don’t know. Something about it felt a little bit too swashbuckle-y for me.

Oooh, We’ll have to agree to disagree about Angie Harmon and Claire Danes – loved both of them!
