So, I saw Black Swan last night.
I have a list of movies I HAVE to see. The King’s Speech. Back Swan. True Grit. Rabbit Hole. The Fighter. Blue Valentine. Lots to see…very little babysitting money to make it happen. Probably I need to go see them by myself. Or score some press screen passes. Or something. It IS my job, after all. To tell you all about them. Right?
Anyway, I thought, in a word, that the movie was Brilliant. I thought that Natalie Portman’s performance was dark and perfect. I will be reviewing the movie on here SOON…but that’s not the news I want to talk about today.
I want to talk about her little two-part surprise announcement.
Because, holy cow, she is both ENGAGED (to her boy friend Benjamin Millepied) and BABY-ON-THE-WAYd. What? Way to squeeze in there as biggest news of 2010, Natalie!
It’s true. Just WHO ON EARTH is Benjamin Millepied, you ask?

He is both a principal dancer in the New York City ballet and a choreographer.
And he looks a little bit like this.
And it’s no secret that I kind of have a thing for ballet dancers. YUM.
Anyway, the two met on the set of Black Swan. There are rumors swirling about Natalie being a homewrecker, since it seems that Millepied was seeing someone before her. But…dudes..it’s Natalie Portman. (I’d probably let her wreck my home…I’m just saying. RELAX, you guys. I am kidding.) He was training her for the role of the WhiteSwan/BlackSwan combo and he ended up coming on to actually play the role of the prince in the movie. In an interview, he says that he called Darren Aronofsky and said “I would love to play this part.” and Darren said: You don’t have to suggest yourself–we already think you’re totally right for it. And that was that. He had only six lines, but he says that he really got into it. He says,”You’re standing up next to those actors, like Natalie, and you’re like, ‘Fuck.’ I was blown away–especially by Natalie, who was amazing to watch.”

This is on the top of my list as movies to watch IN THE THEATRE this year. Like, soon. Since the holidays quickly went from Flu-Fest to Suck-Fest, I figure I deserve a bit o’ babysitting moolah in order to get out to see some flicks. Or, I’ll prolly go on my own, like you, Ali. It’s all good though.
I can’t wait to see her little puddin’. You just know that kid will be made of all kinds of The Adorable… yay for her!! (I love Natalie Portman – since Beautiful Girls… wow.)
I saw Black Swan yesterday and I’m still processing it. The dude is smoking. Natalie was amazing. King’s Speech was fantastic – incredible. Seeing The Fighter tonight and hitting Blue Valentine next week – and tossing Rabbit Hole in when I can emotionally handle it. Can you tell I’m back on a movie kick (be blogging on that one later…). But Black Swan – the one scene with Winona and Natalie…hospital…you know the one…I jumped 500 feet in the air and shrieked a bit…and was by myself…looooser…..
