Rest in Peace, Ed McMahon

June 23, 2009 by Unknown

Ed McMahon died peacefully just after midnight last night at the Ronald Reagan/UCLA Medical Center. He was 86.

McMahon was most well-known for spending nearly 3 decades as Jonny Carson’s Tonight Show sidekick, bringing the phrase “Heeeeeeerre’s Johnny!” into homes across the world. Professionally, he had hosted a variety of shows, including “Star Search” and “TV’s Bloopers and Practical Jokes” but it was always The Tonight Show for which he was more remembered.

He is survived by his wife Pam and five children. A sixth child, McMahon’s son Michael, died in 1995.

He was such a Hollywood icon. He’ll be greatly missed.
