Oscars 2009: Best and Worst

February 23, 2009 by Unknown

the good

Ben Stiller does Joaquin Phoenix
. hilarious. i hope Dave Letterman was watching.

two words: SEAN PENN. i love this man. it’s no secret. and his speech. oh, how i loved that he said “I know how hard I make it to appreciate me.”

hahah. Hugh Jackman hasn’t seen The Reader either. now i don’t feel so bad!

Tina Fey and Steve Martin = best presenter duo EVER.

Kate Winslet’s dress.

best line of the night: “Domo arigato, Mr. Roboto.” — Kunio Kato, winner for animated short film

Robert Pattinson! gah! Robert Pattinson! behind Mickey Rourke. awesome.

the year of the Slumdog! and how much do i want to stuff Danny Boyle into my pocket? answer: SO MUCH.

the way they presented the acting awards. LOVE LOVE LOVED it. you know who else probably loved it? Anne Hathaway.

the bad

Jennifer Aniston. oh, poor Jen. Having to get up in front of a gazillion people and having to look straight into the face of your ex and his new wife-y and the mother of his SIX children who, of course, have the BEST SEATS IN THE HOUSE, and having to try to get all her words right? what’s that? oh, right, she didn’t. poor, poor Jen. also? could they have panned the camera to Angelina ANY more?

two words: WHOOPI GOLDBERG. wtf?

Bill Maher needs to back away from my tv. seriously.

The second musical number. yes, the once with Beyonce in it (BARF). yes, the one with the kiddies from HSM in it (BARF. also? Zac Efron’s hair? WHAT?) yes, the one with the kiddies from Mamma Mia in it? (BARF)

Kate Winslet’s (helmet) hair

Sarah Jessica Parker clearly was at the wrong awards show. Her dress was way more suited for the Golden Globes. bu-dum-dum.

Alan Arkin plays tribute to Seymour Philip Hoffman. ahaha. well, maybe he deserved it. for showing up at the OSCARS looking like Eric Cartman.

helmet head! nightmare. and kate winslet is 34 years old, why does she look 50?? Yayyy for Slumdog! I thought Penelope Cruz, Anne Hathaway, and Alicia Keys all looked great…I thought Hugh Jackman was just okay, not funny enough for me. Those few moments with Steve Martin were brilliant enough to make me wonder why he wasn’t hosting the show.

I didn’t get the Ben Stiller thing until I heard about it on the news this morning. Duh!
I was wondering what was up with Kate’s hair too.

LOL I didn’t even watch the Oscars so I am not sure why I am commenting. But I did happen to click on for a few minutes and saw the disaster that was the Beyonce song and dance number. OMG It was horrendous.
    LOL – Cartman – LOL

I’m with you on Winslet’s hair/dress. From the front the hair looked classy, from the side….helmet.
I loved Sean Penn too. But what was with him NOT THANKING HIS WIFE?!?
Sarah Jessica – all I could think looking at her was….boob fold.
I loved Hugh Jackman. He did a great job. The Beyonce number was exceedingly lame though. And you could tell that Amanda Seyfreid & Dominic Cooper (Mamma Mia) knew it.
I think Anne Hathaway was quite the star of the show (even if she didn’t win Best Actress).
I was happy that Robert Pattinson decided to brush his hair.
I agree with you about how they awarded the acting awards. It was very nice, even if it was a bit of a love-fest. (Seymour Philip Hoffman…hahaha!!!)
    Beyonce’s red-carpet dress. Yikes.
