yes, yes, i realize that Wednesday is supposed to be hump day hearts…and i promise to (try to) get to that by this afternoon (because there will also be an awesome American Idol recap you’ll want to come back for too)…there are just some pressing things i NEED to talk about this morning.
pressing thing #1 – THE shocking death.
If you learn one new thing about me today (although most people already know it), it’s that i am obsessed with the movie Sleepers. and the book. It’s fantastic. i want to be friends with Lorenzo Carcaterra. i want to take him out for dinner. and it was through this movie that i found two great loves – Billy Crudup and Brad Renfro.
Imagine my SHOCK to learn of Brad’s death yesterday. at 25. The cause is undetermined…but he did have a history of drug abuse. i don’t even have the words.
pressing thing #2 – THE godly laptop
my laptop, she is pretty. and she is awesome. and i say nothing bad about her. but THIS? this is PERFECTION. and i must have it.
pressing thing #3 – THE Tom Cruise video
There are many versions out there (just google tom cruise scientology on youtube) but THIS is the one that the Scientologists TOOK OFF of youtube. it’s a GOOD ONE.

I guess the problem I have with Tom Cruise (or any celebrity for that matter) & his Scientology is that it doesn’t seem to gel with the “regular” Scientology. As far as I know Scientologists (the non-famous type) give up all of their wordly possessions & work for the “church”, are “paid” by the “church”, clothed by the “church”, housed by the “church”, etc. So what I don’t understand is how is Tom a Scientologist? Are there 2 types or branches, famous & non-famous. If you have enough money/fame & can recruit other famous/rich people then you can basically live however you want (eg. cloth your child in the latest fashions), while the peon Scientologists march around in their uniforms doing the grunt work? I really don’t know that much about Scientology, but that part always gets under my skin, regardless of what comes out of their mouths about how enlightened they are.

Brad Renfro- so sad! I loved him in Tom and Huck (coming to you from 1985 people). The MacBook- cool, but doesn’t even have a disc drive and has only one USB port. Meh. Tom Cruise video… I watched it earlier and I just didn’t understand it. Or him. Or anything. It was very, very odd. But I agree with J-Rose, he’s not hurting anyone.

Of COURSE the coolest computer ever (and a slick TV ad too) is a Mac 🙂
And – yeah – Scientology. There really ARE no words. People will deny global warming but they will believe in aliens and orgs and … huh?

I LOVE the new mac notebook. So sleek and cool.
I just watched the Tom Cruise thing and am totally creeped out. I don’t understand what he is saying? What are SPs and KWCs or any of that stuff? To me it seems to be all about ego. I am helping everyone and saving the world. And I actually thought it was a spoof the way it was done. How can Katie, who is not a Scientologist, not turn and run in the other direction??
So terribly sad about the death of Brad Renfro…25, wow.
J-Rose says
I agree. Sleepers is one of the all-time greatest movies, and Renfro was amazing in it. He was also really good in Apt Pupil and Bully. Creepy, but good. Shocked to hear about his death.

that new mac notebook is beautiful!….thats too bad about brad renfro he was so young…..as for tom cruise and his scientology video-look tom is a high energy-passionate -weird -bizarre guy BUT thats his religion and they believe in some strange notions the rest of us dont.i’m not sure whats supposed to be so creepy about it?its tom cruise being tom cruise peoplei’m not as tom lover or hater…but if hes passionate about his faith than the rest of us poking fun at him our totally ignorant…so i think let tom and his bizarro cult/faith believe in alternate universes and aliens and whatever …because they aren’t hurting me or my faith…
