this week…

January 23, 2008 by Jen

what you should see:

i can’t believe i’d never seen this show until a few weeks ago. I guess there are some positive things to come out of that nasty little writers’ strike. I have time to watch some shows i never did before. Both Becca and Tova loved it, so i knew i was probably going to like it too. and i did. and so will you. so, check it out…Monday nights on NBC.

what you should listen to:

The Stage Names cover

this is a great, great album. "John Allyn Smith Sails" is my favorite track on the album…listen for the Sloop John B cover at the end. ah, love. and any artist who names a song after the 1982 movie Savannah Smiles (a huge part of my childhood) definitely gets more than a chance!

what you should buy:

i love gadgets. of all kinds. i especially love kitchen gadgets…you know, those ones that you see on tv and just have. to. have. and you bring them home and use them exactly once. well, i now have convinced myself that i need a panini maker. because everyone likes sandwiches…and paninis are sandwiches, with an edge. love!

where you should go:

The Cupcake Shoppe in Toronto. Now, i’m usually a cookie girl, but i do have love for a good cupcake. there’s something that makes regular cake better when you make it an individual treat. and these certainly ARE a treat. each one is a work of art…you’d almost feel bad eating one. almost.
