oh. em. gee.
wow.
wow.
wow.
i watched the full two-hour, two-episode season premiere on Wednesday night, and then just because my brain was still hurting from the first time, i watched it all again last night, which means, that yes, i let my 30 rock and the office and grey's anatomy sit in my pvr until this weekend to re-watch LOST.
where to begin? where?
season 5 premieres almost the same way season 2 does, with someone waking up and getting ready, this time instead of Desmond in the Hatch, it's Dr. Chang/Dr. Candle and the Dharma initiative, who clearly have time-travel on their minds. also? HELLO, Daniel Faraday, interestingly showing up in the early 70s!
so, it seems it's not the island that's moving, but the people ON the island. well, only some. John Locke and the 815 survivors and Juliette and Faraday, Charlotte and Miles seem to be jumping around through time. before the hatch, during the hatch, after the hatch. also, it seems that our dear Sawyer has put on some weight, so i was glad to see him put on a shirt. heh.
so, Hurley doesn't want to lie. and he blames Sayid for not backing him up. so, they all lie. Hurley keeps his mouth shut throughout Sayid rescuing him from the mental institution and killing three men and running into Ana Lucia ("Libby says hi!") and changing into an "i heart shih-tzu" tshirt and trying to save Sayid. and then he breaks and tells his mom everything. and she believes him. awesome. and then because he doesn't want to go anywhere with Ben, he turns himself into the police.
so, clearly, Sun's gone sour. Her conversation with Kate was filled with passive-aggression. "i don't blame you" which, um, clearly she does, or else she wouldn't have brought Jin into the conversation at all. (although, Jin? TOTALLY ALIVE…)
so, John Locke is dead. Ageless Alpert told him that he had to die in order to bring the oceanic 6 back to the island. he helps clean out the wound that Ethan the Other gave him. and he gives him a compass. what does it do? it points north. hmm. it was also the same compass that Alpert showed to 6-year-old John Locke. interesting. so, John Locke is dead. OR IS HE?
so, poor Charlotte totally needs a constant, doesn't she?
so, pretty much no one gives a crap about Kate.
so,the mysterious Ms. Hawking says they only have 70 hours to get everyone back to the Island. hmmm. rumors are flying around that she's Daniel Faraday's mom. thoughts?
so, Desmond is special and all of these "rules" don't apply to him. Faraday speak with him while he's in the hatch and it's only three years after he gets off the island that he remember this memory while sleeping beside Penny. now he knows he has to go and track down Daniel's mom in Oxford.
wow. brain. ouch.
