Rethinking Breast Cancer at the Little Sweetheart Ball

February 5, 2009 by Unknown

This Sunday, February 8th, my family and I will be attending Rethink Breast Cancer‘s third annual Little Sweetheart Ball in Toronto. And you all, I am so excited to be a part of this event. The Little Sweetheart Ball’s goal is to raise money for young families dealing with breast cancer by pairing parenting with partying and giving hip, urban families the opportunity to get out on the town in style.

“We are really pleased that the Little Sweetheart Ball continues to be relevant to today’s
young Canadian families that seek to remain stylish and socially-engaged even
with the extra duties of looking after little ones,” explains MJ DeCoteau, Executive Director of Rethink Breast
Cancer. Inspired by the celebrity
baby-boom in Hollywood,
the Little Sweetheart Ball was created to allow parents to mix and participate
in unique activities with their kids, all with a philanthropic purpose. “We’re
thrilled to bring this one-of-a-kind event back to Toronto for another great year,” says
DeCoteau.

The child-friendly affair, geared towards kids under
seven and their moms and dads, will take place from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. at the Capitol
Event Theatre
located at 2492 Yonge Street.Funds raised at the event will go towards Support Saturdays, a program helping
new moms and dads dealing with breast cancer. Tickets, available for purchase online at the Rethink Breast
Cancer website, are $50 for adults
and only $5 for kids.  Parents and their little sweethearts are
invited to come dress in fabulously fashionable, fun or fancy attire.

The 2007 Toronto Little Sweetheart Ball raised an astounding
$75,000, and Rethink Breast Cancer hopes to see the same generosity towards the
cause at this year’s event.

Sponsored by Telus, Schick Quattro for Women, Joe Fresh
Style, Steam Whistle, Bunch Family Dance Party, Lone Star Texas Grill, Yellow
Tail and The Little Paper this year’s Little Sweetheart Ball is sure to be a
fun-filled success.
