A few weeks ago my family and I decided to take a break. Not a vacation really, but a little getaway. We definitely needed some time just the four of us. Here were our collective criteria for this family getaway:
- Out of the city.
- Close enough to drive.
- A pool. Preferably a waterpark.
- A beach.
- Good food.
- Starbucks. (OK, that one is only mine but it is VERY important!)
So, anyone who knows anything about Toronto and surrounding area knows that the #1, and possibly the only, destination that meets all of this criteria is Blue Mountain Resort near Collingwood, Ontario. And considering we were working with Blue Mountain already we thought it was a good time to bring the family. We had stayed at Blue last year when my sister got married but had been so busy we hadn’t been able to check anything out. I had visited again with all of the UrbanMoms bloggers earlier this summer but I had never stayed at Blue solely to enjoy time with my family. I was really looking forward to just relaxing and hanging out together.
And that is exactly what we did. Sometimes you realize that it is the little things that make the biggest difference. We just enjoyed being together. Nothing outrageous. No big crowds of family and friends. Just us. It was fabulous.
Here is what we did:
...played at Plunge! Aquatic Centre and…
…”relaxed” at Blue Mountain’s private beach.
3. Sipped a drink while eating dinner on the fabulous patio at Firehall Pizza.
4. (Over)indulged in Beaver Tails.
5. Cheered on kids scaling rocks.
Some parts of this trip were subsidized by Blue Mountain but most of it was paid for by Jen personally.
The contest closes on August 26, 2010.
