The announcement that Target would be opening stores across Canada in March 2013 was met with great fanfare. Many of us have become fans of Tar-jay on cross-border jaunts, and there are certain products that are worth a drive to Buffalo (Sonia Kashuk’s Barely There Loose Powder in Naked…I’m looking at you!). But Target fans had a niggling concern at the back of our collective brains…would we Canadians be getting the same Target quality and atmosphere, or would we have a watered down version?
Target unveiled its exclusive partners, owned brands and limited time only collections that will be available to Canadians in just A FEW SHORT WEEKS, and we can all start getting excited.
How about introducing a little home design into our living rooms from Oprah’s buddy Nate Burkus?
He’ll be bringing his latest asssortment of bedding, bath, decorative accessorsies, lighting, rugs and window treatments.
Top chef and Food Network celebrity Giada De Laurentiis is bringing the exclusive line of affordable cookware products that she launched about three years ago in the United States.
I asked Giada which one product every UrbanMom reader needed in her kitchen, and without hesitation she pulled out her mezza luna cleaver (which took me aback for a moment) and explained that she’d worked for almost a full year with designers to create a set of knives that were elegant, attractive, and the appropriate size and weight for a smaller female hand. This one was a throwback to a knife her own mother had used in Italy.
As for the Limited Time Only Collections? Canadians will be able to shop for dresses designed by Kate Young, one of the most sought after stylists in Hollywood. If she’s good enough to dress Emma Stone for the Oscars, she’s good enough to dress me for summer!
I love the nod to the true north in Target’s pairing with Roots Outfitters, who will offer a line of their sweat pants, sweatshirts and tees in stores from March to June 2013.
Target will also bring many of their owned and exclusive brands, including Cherokee, Circo and Mossimo.
And as for that Sonia Kashuk powder that I’ve smuggled in my carry on like crack cocaine? I got insurance from the woman herself that all of her high-quality cosmetics and accessories would be in Canadian stores.
Target’s coming, Canadians, and I for one could not be more excited.
So, share, Target fans….what are you most looking forward to being able to buy?
