Recently the wonderful folks at Vichy Laboratoires invited me for a personalized skin diagnosis. I have been to dermatologists and aestheticians, and I thought I had a pretty good handle on how to care for my largest organ, but I’m always open to more information.
First the skincare specialist asked me a number of questions about my skin concerns and sensitivity, and then he pulled out the tools…At first I was taken aback my the clinical nature of some of these tools. I was concerned about being zipped and zapped right then and there, but as I put my face in the hands of this skincare professional and trusted him.
First he measured my hydration levels and I was surprised to discover that my skin was dehydrated.
Parched
He then pulled out a video-microscope which showed my skin on a gigantic large screen. He was kind enough to point out pigmentation spots, fine lines, dry patches, dilated pores and broken capillaries. He was quick to reassure me that all of this is common and even the supermodels have the same issues lurking beneath their dermis.
“Don’t worry, I’m a professional. I’ve seen worse.”
Finally it was time for the moment I’d been worried about; the UV picture. I know I’ve spent way too much time in the sun in the past, and I’ve always been scared off by the idea of what that’s done to my skin. This photo shows the apprehension I’m feeling as I face the UV music.
I’m ready for my closeup.
Drumroll, please…
Now all of this skincare scrutiny could have been pretty terrifying, if it hadn’t concluded with a sensible examination of my “skin passport” and a suggested prescription for my personal skin. The Vichy experts have over 80 years of skin expertise, coupled with renowned dermatolgical research, so they’re able to provide product suggestions that offer great solutions.
My favourite new product from this examination is Vichy’s ProEven Daily Dark Spot Corrector. It’s a patented formula that offers my daily mositurizer, with other ingredients to treat the symptoms and root causes of dark spots and uneven skin tone. I’ve been using it for a month and I see a noticeable reduction in those “sun spots” and a brighter complexion.
