As a Trend Watch writer, I get a lot of pitches. Some are your normal, run of the mill, “You’ve got $10 million sitting in a Nigerian bank account” pitches, and some actually sound over-the-top unbelievable!
Bio-Oil sounded like one of those “too good to be true” products. It’s a blend of natural plant oils and vitamins that is sold around the world as a scar and stretch mark product. The pitch promoted the benefit of Bio-Oil in helping to “improve the appearance of new and old scars of all types”, and the product is just now available in Canada.
I don’t have enough scars (or the patience required) to speak for its efficacy in that regard. However, I was intrigued by the mention that “Bio-Oil is also effective against other skin concerns like aging and dehydrated skin, and is suitable for all skin types and ages”.
I threw it in my travel bag last week, and have been using it non-stop during our week at the family cottage.
I’ve used it on my daughter’s eczema, on her sunburn (ouch) and dry skin patches. I’ve used it on the kids’ bug bites, for lip balm at night, and I’ve used it myself as eye makeup remover and facial moisturizer. This stuff does it all and does it well!
When it comes to packing for travel, I’m a big believer in multitasking. I managed to get my makeup bag down to 3 items, and I’m working on getting the rest of my toiletry items paired down too. Bio-Oil’s going to help with that!
Bio-Oil’s available at retailers across Canada, and comes in three sizes; 60mL for $12.99, 125mL for $21.99 and 200mL for $29.99.
