By now you’ve no doubt enjoyed Ali’s debrief on the best and worst dressed of the Golden Globes. Ali referred to the 2011 Golden Globes Awards as being the Shoulder Pad Edition, but what I really noticed was the promise of Spring.
All those hues of peach, blush and salmon were like a promise of sun and milder temperatures for those of us who have been dealing with sub-zero temps, mounds of snow and closets of black, charcoal and the occasional splash of grey.
Inspired by the honeysuckle promises I tried to pull off a little spring colour of my own this week, but it just felt so forced. It’s hard to look comfortable in a lilac sweater under a puffy parka. It’s like the beautiful pot of hyacinth that my mom brought me this week. As much as they represent the promise of flowering and seedtime, I can’t get past the cedar boughs and Christmas lights in the background.
So instead I’ve turned to my nose and started lighting my gorgeous MOZI perfumed candles in Gardenia and Orange Blossom. This Australian line is made from organic palm and bees wax and has the most natural floral scent I’ve ever found in a candle.
MOZI candles are not cheap, costing around $30, but I’ve been burning mine on and off for a full year, and the (beautiful) packaging promises me 40 hours of burning time, so I think I’m getting my money’s worth. I’ve easily spent $30 on a bouquet of flowers that I’ve had to throw out in less than a week, and once the candles are all done, I can keep the lovely glass cup for my dresser. They are available at boutiques across the country.
