I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream for Ice Cream

We all enjoy our Girls Nights Out (GNO is practically code around my ‘hood for “my kids and husband are driving me crazy; need a night out with the girls”, but what to serve for a girls night in? You’re sitting around outside on a hot summer night after enjoying a bottle (or two) of wine with a spontaneous bbq while the kids entertain themselves. Perfect evening, right? And to cap it off, try the new Breyer’s Smooth and Dreamy ice cream. It’s amazingly flavourful and creamy, and uses a new cream press system that means it’s half the fat and half the calories of regular Breyer’s. Pull out a few spoons and try the Coffee Fudge Brownie.

For Date Night
To celebrate our first meal on our new deck, my husband and I recently ordered Indian take-out and had a great dinner…just the two of us! Highlights were some uninterrupted conversation, a relaxed mealtime and for dessert I pulled out the decidedly grown up Sobey’s Sensations by Compliments Tiramisu gelato. It’s a yummy authentic Italian gelato with real mascarpone cheese, ladyfingers soaked in coffee and coffee syrup swirls. Definitely delicious and one to keep all to yourself…hide it from the kids in the back of the freezer!

One for the Kids
As if you needed an excuse to take the kids to Dairy Queen for a Blizzard treat, August 12 is Miracle Treat Day, and all proceeds from every Blizzard sold in Canada on that day will go towards  your local Children’s Miracle Network hospital. My favourite Blizzard order is a combination of Skor and Peanut Butter cups, but my kids are partial to “back by popular demand” Oreo…the Blizzard of the Month!

So there you have it; two new ice creams to try out, and a new reason to try out an old favourite. We’re only half-way through summer, so there’s no better time than now to indulge!
