By now we’ve all heard about (or seen firsthand) that Justin Bieber, the Canadian singer famously discovered on YouTube and now EVERYWHERE!, is the biggest heart throb amongst the tween girl set. Girls have plastered posters on their walls, moon over his videos, and talk about his likes and dislikes (do you remember those days. Who was it for you? Donny Osmond? David Cassidy? Mark Walberg? Michael Jackson?).
Justin Bieber is as famous for his styled locks as he is for his singing chops. Now Bieber-fever has crossed gender lines, and the boys (who are no dummies; they figure out quite quickly what the girls appreciate) are lining up for their own Bieber cuts. Not since Rachel’s shag has a celebrity hairstyle taken off so quickly.
Kids parents are spending up to $175 to have their boys’ hair chemically straightened and perfectly coiffed. I love how Manhattan hairstylist Cozy Friedman describes the cut, “You can’t see any eyes, and there’s a lot of flipping.”
I asked my own boys (aged 11 and 8) what they thought of the trend. While both acknowledge that the 16 year old Bieber has “good hair”, they were quick to point out that they were not fans of the singer. However, my younger son did request the Bieber for his latest hair appointment, which necessitated his first visit to a salon (goodbye cheap barber cuts!).
What do you think?
Before…
and after…
Now I just need to replace hockey with some singing lessons, and I can sit back and plan my retirement!

My son has a selection of hats that he wears daily (from the flat brimmed baseball cap to a couple of fedoras). He sleeps with a hat beside his bed, and literally puts in on his head as he climbs out in the morning, removing it only for showers and sleep. So, I’m not sure exactly how the styles doing under his lid. Kind of waste, huh?

My son got it styled that way at his last cut too. It lasted until the next shower when he found out he had to now style it himself EVERY time! Did your guy stick it out?

two of my nephews have been rockin’ the “beiber” for about 5 years now so it’s nothing new to us! it’s a $10 haircut at the barber and they are much cuter than justin! 🙂
