Many of us are looking forward to this weekend as an opportunity to slow down and take some time to enjoy our role as mothers. Perhaps Mother’s Day means spending a little time alone, or maybe it means extra family time.
If you’re scrambling for a Mother’s Day gift idea for the special mother in your life, consider a trip to Hallmark Cards this weekend. Often a card’s the best way to tell mom you love her, but the store has many other ideas, too.
For the past few Mother’s Days, I’ve taken a little time for myself to treat myself to some new annuals and do some gardening. This year I may take the kids along to help me choose some blooms to fill this personalized flower pot. The kids get to decorate the pot, then fire it in the oven so that it becomes a permanent keepsake. For $14.95, it becomes a personal and practical gift.
We’re starting a new Mother’s Day tradition in my family. For the first time, three generations will attend high tea at a fancy downtown hotel. Dressing up, enjoying special treats and taking some time to be together…what better way to celebrate the day? In that vein, I’m considering thisbeautiful crafted mug for my mother. It’s only $9.95, so I could round out the gift with a selection of her favourite teas and cookies, and every time she sips from it, it can remind her of our afternoon together.
Whatever you’re doing and however you celebrate, enjoy a happy mother’s day.
