So, I went to this wicked burlesque show at the Rialto Theatre last night – my sister was the headlining act, and she killed.
When I go to one of these things, I like to dress with some drah-mah, without looking completely ridiculous. It ain’t exactly a costume party, but close. I wore this black satin pencil skirt, which I’ve had for about four years, I think. It’s classic shape and fabric should deem it wear-worthy for years to come – and I don’t wear it very often, so it’s still crisp looking. The fit is good, so the line is pretty kickin’. Add some peep-toe stilettos, and your butt goes POW!
On top I wore a sheer black blouse (one of many I own) tucked in, so it billows over the waist a little bit, and added this black vintage stole I picked up at a flea market-type place a few years ago for twenty-five dollars. Swanky indeed. There aren’t too many places where a lady can wear an accessory such as this these days, (and yes, I know it’s August) but if there ever was a place, I reckon a burlesque show has got to be it. Puuurrrrrr…
