It’s a winter wonderland out there. Some would say finally, I’d say whether I like it or not – I’m already living for spring. But one thing I do love is winter stories. So pretty! So much fun! Try this one out for some silly fun with your little ones this snowy season.

I like picture books of songs, so that you can sing to your child while enjoying the pictures together, and Ten In The Bed is a favourite kid song of mine from when I was a kid myself, so I wanted to take a look at this wintry twist right off to see what they made of it.
As ten animals rocket down a long and bumpy hill, they tumble off the sled, one by one, until the caribou is left sliding solo by the end of the wild ride. The text does a good job of fitting to the song and switching up the words each verse so it is not as repetitive as the song, either, which certainly makes for more fun reading.
My favourite part if the illustrations, however, which are colourful without being too boldly slick, and feature facial expressions on the animals that bring a fun comic element to the whole thing. The moose, in particular, just makes me giggle. Adaptations like this don’t always work, but I enjoyed this one!
