Making it Work: New Ways to Wear Classic Colors

April 1, 2011 by Metalia

I love the black-and-white color combination, in terms of clothes, but sometimes I feel like it’s so…tired, you know? I must confess, though, that my love for that particular combo has never died; I’m just trying to find new ways to wear it and make it work. I’m currently in Seattle for a blogging event, and I had recently purchased a new white skirt. I was DETERMINED to wear it to one of the parties, but not with just a plain black top and shoes. I studied my closet, and pulled together (what I think!) is a fresh take on the classic color combo.

So, yes, I did still pair it with a plain back top, but I tried to use that as a backdrop for a “statement” necklace that matched the skirt. Then, rather than the expected (i.e., plain black pumps), I tried to keep the interest factor up with python heels that pulled together the colors of the top and the skirt. Voila!

Gorgeous outfit. You could school Rachel Zoe when it comes to styling.
