I just bought a pleated wool skirt. I have amassed quite a large pencil skirt collection, and I thought this would mix it up a bit, as far as work gear goes.
Now, I don’t know if it’s my height (I’m short) or my general appearance (I look like A CHILD), but I’m having trouble making the pleated skirt work for me. More specifically, I haven’t figured out how to pull it off in a way that doesn’t make me look like I’m running late for Catholic school.
I tried a button-down shirt (school uniform, ahoy), and a cardigan (CHURCH-LADY-IN-TRAINING, OMG), and I need your help! How do you style a grown-up outfit around a pleated skirt? All suggestions welcome!

Deep v-neck sweater and open-toe kitten heels.
But beware, you’re going to get a lot of attention. Like, a lot a lot.

I like the boots and tights suggestions….seems to make it a little more “grown up”.

I have one that I wear with a t-neck, funky necklace and boots.

I’m with Nancy on the sexy shoes thing… it’s the only way not to make it look to child-like. (I have the SAME problems with such a skirt – I’ve just stopped trying to wear them. Ack!)

um.
Obviously..we just need to ask Rachel Berry.

yup I’m with airpork. I bought one last summer and was lost – then I saw someone wearing the same skirt with a fitted tank it looked awesome!
Nancy says
fitted jersey top with fun necklace and sexy shoes
airpork says
Try wearing it with a fitting basic camisole or tank top tucked in. If work deems that as “too funky”, wear a jacket or light cardigan over it.
This girl here actually looks quite nice in her black pleated skirt! > http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v193/belle_toink/thecapriciousclub/ahoy2.jpg

Also, I found myself a really cute grey/black plaid skirt to buy hee-hee

Wool or cotton turtle-neck or cowl-neck sweater, something with a slight cable to it, No waist.
Solid color tights and closed toe pumps. That would be my suggestion.
Hope that helps.
