FOUND: Drugstore Shampoo for Colored Hair That WORKS

December 3, 2010 by Metalia

I officially began coloring my hair for the first time less than a year ago. I say “officially,” because in the interest of full disclosure, there was a fabulous stage in tenth grade where I thought using Sun-In on the two front locks of hair on either side of my face was a wise move. Orangey taupe streaks! Just like Coco Chanel always recommended! BUT I DIGRESS.

As, uh, I was saying, I recently started dyeing my hair. I made the mistake of starting out using pricey Frederic Fekkai shampoo and conditioner for colored hair pretty much straight out of the gate. People, NEVER get used to the fancy stuff right away. Work UP to it, if you need to, because man alive, that stuff gets expensive fast. And call me crazy, but I have a tough time spending so much money on something that — quite literally — goes right down the drain.

I searched high and low, testing out a bunch of lower-priced shampoos and conditioners for colored hair, but nothing was really doing it for me. And then I stumbled upon L’Oreal’s EverPure shampoo line. It works as well as my (much more expensive) Fekkai shampoo! It makes my dyed hair look shiny, silky and sleek without mucking up the color! It smells like rosemary and juniper! It’s sulfate-free and vegan (if you care about these things)! It costs around $7!

(I apologize for the exclamation point abuse, but as you can see, I get excited about finding stuff that works, on the cheap.)

If you have colored hair, I highly recommend picking up this line.

FYI Canadians, I found this shampoo at Shoppers Drug Mart today, and it was on sale. Bought the shampoo and conditioner. Thanks for the tip Metalia!

Would you allow me to reference a few sentences from your post? I’m finishing up project for college. Thanks a lot!

Ooh, L’Oreal purchased a salon brand and took it over? Innnnteresting. It really is impressive for the price!

Agree completely. I was using a salon brand that cost an arm & a leg. Found out that L’Oreal has purchased that brand and shortly afterwards, out comes EverPure. I imagine it’s just about the same as the salon brand. Love it!
