Twas the night before Christmas and all through this house 8 little Monkeys were quiet as mice – NOT!
On Christmas eve this house is anything but quiet! Here we do things a bit differently. We have a meatless dinner – due to many of my children not liking fish we have been having cheese pizza the past few years. After eating they open presents – yes they open presents on Christmas eve. This is from their fathers side of the family.
After all the excitement has died down, and toys are put away we then get out the magic reindeer food and sprinkle it outside on the lawn for Santas reindeer. Stockings are then put up, and they children head off to bed eagerly anticipating Santa’s arrival.
The children then spend hours trying not to go to sleep in hopes of catching a sneak peek of the good ol saint nick, but it never works, as they always fall asleep at some point.
Early Christmas morning they all wake up screaming “Its Christmas! Its Christmas!” and go running around the house waking each other up. This usually occurs around 7am – ugh!
Stockings are emptied and Santa’s presents are opened, then breakfast is served. Usually then different family members arrive to help celebrate.
here is a picture of what our Christmas tree looked like filled with presents for 8 children:
Does your family have any special traditions you follow each year? Are these traditions from your side or the hubby’s side?
Happy Holidays to everyone!
Until next time
