Having eight children living under the same roof means that my house is loud, full of activity, and did I mention LOUD? Of course having six boys makes it even louder.
The other day Sebastian asked if he could put his hockey net in the playroom if he cleaned it up. I said sure, knowing full well that the playroom was a disaster thanks to him, his brother Ryley and a friend. No way was that room getting cleaned up.
Well when you have a house full of children……………..
LESSON 1: Always listen to what your children are saying.
LESSON 2: Never underestimate them.
So a few hours later as I was folding the never ending piles of laundry and I hear Sebastian yell out to his brother Joshua. “Are you gonna help me! It’s stuck!”
As much as I didn’t want to know what was going on I knew I had to investigate.
Shit! I couldn’t believe my eyes – in the stairway leading to the basement was Sebastians hockey net – stuck between my rather expensive pantry and the wall.
The scream somehow flew out of my mouth. “What are you doing!” Duh! as if it wasn’t obvious.
In a somewhat annoyed voice Sebastian reminded me that I told him he could put his hockey net downstairs in the playroom as long as he cleaned it up.
He was correct. Whoops, this is why you should always abide by Lesson 1 and 2 that I listed earlier.
Of course it hadn’t occured to Sebastian that it would have been easier to take apart the net before attempting to take it downstairs. It took over half an hour to get it unstuck.

Alice – we were in the process of trying to decide what reno’s we were going to have done until I found out I was pregnant with the twins then it was quickly decided NO WAY! 6 Boys!? Forget it now I will just watch the house being destroyed for the next 12 years or so lol
LOL I seriously hope they grow out of it but somehow I think probably not;) I had to laugh about the markers with no caps scattered throughout the house! Sure we don’t live together?:)
I have a feeling that you know this already….but if that is the worst of it….you are doing okay. I read your story everypost as I still am trying to figure out how you do it!!!Cheers and Happy Easter!!
OH! Those are the times I’m glad we haven’t renovated most of the house yet and can happily not care *too* much because we’ll fix it later.
Oh, how I can relate! With four boys all under eight, I have marred walls, broken bedroom drawers, glue and stickers dispersed throughout the house, small puddles of water, numerous broken toys scattered everywhere, craft markers without caps in every single room, broken base and drawers in the fridge and the list goes on. Whew! When I write that down, I realize what a wrecking crew my boys truly are… they grow out of it, right? 😉
