One year ago today I arrived in Russia after two days of travel. It’s a ten hour flight to Moscow if you go direct which I would do on the way home but this time it was Toronto-Frankfurt (6 hr layover) -Moscow (overnight) then finally Volgograd (another 2 hours flight) This is a relatively easy trek in International adoption. My friend travelled an additional 7 hour flight across Russia then another 3 hours by car into very rural Russia. To make things more complex there is an 8 hour time difference so day becomes night and night becomes day. It’s feels like entering another world. Exhausted and elated, ready for what was supposed to be a 27 day adventure to bring home my son. There was an unplanned turn of events in store for me and it would result in the gift of returning home with Roman ten days early.
Here’s my blog post from that day, one year ago.
