Last year, I was lucky enough to participate (work) during McHappy Day at my local McDonald’s restaurant. And, not to brag but my local restaurant is one of the number one restaurants for McHappy Day in the entire country!!! So, I spent my lunch hour hustling fries and Big Macs like nobody’s business. At the time, I just enjoyed the excitement… it was only later in May, during our visit to the Ronald McDonald house in London, Ontario that I realized the impact and importance of that special day in May.
Some excerpts of my diary during that touching visit:
“We have fun on visits, we ask bold questions, but this visit was the first time I shed a tear (and I was not alone). We are five moms representing all you moms across Canada, we are all different yet ordinary moms just like you… this visit united us all on one common thread; no mom wants to think about one of her precious children falling ill and having to be hospitalized…. Every effort is made to create a home away from home…. Margaret (the executive director and our tour guide that day) summed it up best at the end of the visit, ‘Ronald McDonald House is about so much more than the structure.’ I would like to add, McDonald’s is about so much more than a company that sells burgers and fries…”
So every day of the year 10 cents from every Happy Meal sold in Canada goes to Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) of Canada but on McHappy Day adults get in on the action too … $1 from every Big Mac, Egg McMuffin and Happy Meal sold goes to goes to RMHC and other local children’s charities across the county.
So, on May 5th don’t worry about what to make for breakfast, lunch or dinner: Happy Meals, Big Macs & Egg McMuffins for all!!!!!!!!!!!!!
