Most days when I am on the run, I need lunch and I need it fast and healthy. My usual standby is the Grilled Chicken wrap from McD’s (no sauce) with a Diet Coke. It’s the perfect quick snack that I can eat in the car or while I walk through WalMart.
Am I kidding myself that this is the perfect low fat snack? Please tell me that I’m OK on this one as I’ve had hundreds of them.

Hey, great concern. It would be nice for the option of a whole wheat wrap, but not everyone is nutrition-minded like some people. 🙂 . I think you could be eating a lot worse out there when you’re grabbing something quickly to eat. No sauce will definitely knock off fat and calories, but it is proven that HOT SAUCE in the Buffalo wraps, not only doesn’t add any calories, but Capsaicin which is found in hot peppers, has several nutritional benefits as well as causing you to not eat as much after. Several medical studies have been done showing a number of health benefits!

I LOVE the wraps too and agree that they make a great snack. If you are worried about fat content Marianne, just order it without the ranch, it is just as good, or order it with the ranch on the side so you can have as much or as little as you want that day. One thing that I learned, that I never really knew before, is that you can order it the WAY you WANT it ANYTIME!

Hi Marianne: I love these wraps too – they have 250 calories & 10g fat according to the mcdonalds.ca nutrition information. I would think much of the 10g of fat is in the ranch dressing, but I couldn’t find a way to take out the dressing on the nutrition calculator so I can’t be sure. I think the salads (not the caesar though, it is loaded with parmesan cheese and bacon) are also an excellent choice, as is the grilled chicken sandwich, which has 216 calories and 11g fat (more filling than the wraps). Surprisingly, tortillas – although smaller – often have more fat in them than buns.
So no, I don’t think you’re kidding yourself! There are actually plenty of ways to make good choices at McDs.
