I love the spicy, sweet smell of holiday baking: gingerbread, mince pies, mulled wine and cider, spiced rum…but let’s face it: you can’t be baking (or drinking!) every day. Still, my house always smells spicy, sweet and warm all holiday long.
How? My simple potpourri recipe:
- one orange (sliced)
- one lemon (sliced)
- three cinnamon sticks
- 20-30 whole cloves
- 6 bay leaves
Place all ingredients in a saucepan and cover with water. Place on the stove and bring to a boil. Keep the pot at a low simmer and enjoy the beautiful aroma. Whenever the water starts to get low, just add more (to save all the stuff from burning to the bottom of your saucepan!)
Enjoy!

I never thought to make my own potpourri. The recipe looks really simple. I will have to give it a try. Just need to purchase a few ingredients. Thanks!
