Oh, this girl. She is growing into such a beautiful little person. And believe me, it took a lot of tantrums and gnashing of teeth to get to this point. She was such an angry toddler and it was a constant battle of wills to keep her from freaking out a dozen times a day. She is still a firecracker, but the energy is better directed now. She dreams of horses, she is a kind friend, she is articulate beyond belief, she is thoughtful and smart and determined and she is just aglow with all she’s learning in her Junior Kindergarten class this year.
She is our tomboy, choosing jeans and horse t-shirts over dresses any day. She tells us all about how we’re going to build a barn in the backyard for a horse to live in that she’ll be able to peek out her bedroom window and look at every day. She is going to be a cowgirl when she grows up.
Her soul is still so delicate as she finds her way, and I have to remember to be slow to anger with her, since her face crumples in tearful defeat when I am cross with her.
She is a lovely one, that Karenna.
