Now that we are well and truly in the midst of a long hot Summer, I’m sure, just like me, you find yourself wearing some of the same clothes and accessories over and over. You know the ones – the top that not only looks great, but somehow feels great just about anytime, anywhere. Or how about that favourite pair of sandals, slip-ons or flip flops (Jen…)?

First, just to prove that I do as I say, here’s an item I have promoted for moms again and again, my fave white Bermudas. I bought them at Old Navy early in the season and it took me a while to get used to this look, but now I love it. The knee-skimming length is perfect for me as I keep up with my two busy boys and, I think, suits me better than capris which are suited to those with longer legs.
Next, I am loving these metallic flip flops. I picked them up one day at Zellers when I was getting garden supplies (oh well, I needed something to wear in the garden, didn’t I?) The mid-height heel gives legs a little more shape and is very comfortable, and at only $14.99, I’m not going to be worried if metallic is out next summer.
The halter top is one of the best looks for me and turquoise blue, one of my best colours. That’s why I love this plain and simple top. I also have it in black and white. Great for dressing up or down, with soft skirts, pants or jeans. See image with Bermudas above.
Summer means sun, and sun means sunglasses. Not only functional, sunglasses add a dash of sophistication to just about any outfit, especially this season’s larger designs. If, like me, the very large versions are a little overwhelming for you, try a modified look. Mine are a black Nine West version.
Last but not least, my beloved black and white dress. Purchased several seasons ago at Jacob, this soft jersey number is cool and comfortable and feels wonderful when the weather is as hot as it is just now. I wear it with flat flip-flops for day and can dress if up with strappy sandals for a soiree. I don’t have a dog, but if I did, I’d want one as good-natured, reliable and loyal as my black and white, halter dress.

My sparkly flip flops! Problem is, they are a little worse for wear but I just can’t give them up. I have other pairs but these are definitely the most comfy. The don’t rub in between my toes and have a little arch lift built in. They are (literally) falling apart but I WILL wear them until the end of this summer!
I love the new length in “shorts”. Bermudas are so great. I am also loving the longer tops. For a very tall woman it is nice not to worry about exposing my mommy-tummy.
Hi Katie, I totally hear you on the bermudas. I have a chocolate brown pair – a bit more on the dressy side – that have given me A LOT of wear this summer. Wish I could find a dress I like, though. There’s just that issue of one that will allow me to wear a good bra – and actually cover the bra straps (hate that bra strap/cami strap showing look).
