The last time my friend Kristin came to visit, Brinley looked like this:
Fast forward a year and a half and Kristin is back from Switzerland and this is what you get:
My dear friend flew across the ocean to spend time with me and my family and I am so thankful. She is one of those extra-special friends that you just never let go of. We are celebrating our 20th year of friendship this year and our bond is so unique and I just love that girl. She spent most of the visit playing with our girls, getting right into their worlds and plunging into the craziness that is our life these days. She is wise and kind-hearted and encouraging and honest and beautiful and I miss her presence in my day-to-day.
Having friends who truly embrace and enjoy your kids is one of life’s greatest gifts, I say.
So thanks, Kristin.

Awwww, shucks! Those girls stole my heart just like you did back in Grade 4 with your Northern Reflections sweaters and stirrup pants – irresistable! As a non-parent, I totally appreciate how much of an effort you have always made to include me in your family even as it evolves. You have no idea how much that unconditional love and acceptance means to me, so thanks to you my dear. Being an honorary auntie rocks!

Those kinds of friends are “heart string” friends. God only gives us a few but I am convinced that He built those friendships with the same unique and awesome purpose He designed our spouses with. So happy you have each other!
