Stale Mail

This makes me feel like an old fart, but…back in my day we used to write letters to our friends and send care packages and postcards in the mail. I’m talking, less than ten years ago. It’s pretty insane to realize just how vastly technology has changed the way we communicate with our loved ones, but I would argue that for all of the convenience of emailing, texting and Facebooking, there is nothing so sweet as fumbling across a handwritten letter or card in the mail. It makes you feel special and loved and connected to the sender and this year I have been making more of an effort to send those thank-you notes, as well as the “just because I was thinking of you” cards to resuscitate the dying art of the written word. 

If you’ve been bored with the mail you find in your own box, how about starting something good and just sending a random card to a friend to say hello, or happy birthday, or “I miss you!” and see what comes back to you.
