OK. Things have officially taken a turn for the Uncomfortable this week. I developed a horrendous case of viral diarrhea that has stretched on endlessly for five days, with still no sign of relief. But to add insult to injury, my poor, exhausted rear-end has birthed two hemorrhoids (the size of table grapes, if you must know) due to all the strain and cramping.
With my previous pregnancies I developed a small hemorrhoid from pushing during delivery (thankfully it disappeared a couple weeks after birth), but never had I had such a delicate situation IN MY BUM CRACK before heading into labour. I think my rump might explode when I try to push out the baby if it’s already in such a tender, precarious state. Do I need to warn the nurses in advance? Tell them to don an extra face mask to shield them from the hemorrhoid juice that will splat all over the hospital walls when I reach ten centimeters?!
Gah. This is neither fun nor glamourous.
Oh, and here’s a word to the wise: don’t search Google images for photos of hemorrhoids. I am scarred for life.
Did you suffer from this problem with your pregnancy? Did you have any trouble recovering from labour due to ‘Rroid Rage? (Please don’t tell me your child is eight and you still have the hemorrhoid as a souvenir. I can’t handle the truth right now!)

good lord, sorry you are going through all this. did you forward this to shawn? maybe this experience will lead him to the decision that a little snippy clip is really the easiest way of contraception considering all the heck women go through during pregnancy and labour.
i’ll be wishing for no more complications for you and the ones you’re having to go away!

WITCH HAZEL! Put it in the freezer. Soak rags in it… Seriously, the stuff feels so freaking good. And honestly the colder the better. They also have things at the pharmacy called sitz baths. They’re so helhpful…

I had them post delivery with both. I bought a special pillow shaped like a ring to sit on, took soothing cool baths, and used both prep H and Tuks pads. I can not imagine going into labour already suffering. Hopefully these babies will cool off before the real baby arrives.

That’s aweful! I did suffer second time round with the big old “H” while pregnant, fortunately labour hurt enough I didn’t even notice them while I was pushing. That may have been God helping me out or the fact that Audrey decided to join us in 15 minutes flat. And they did disappear shortly there after having her. Hopefully for you, they’ll be gone in no time.
As an aside, get some Tucks wipes from the pharmacy, they’re either behind the counter or with the Prep H. They work WONDERS and are a lot easier to use 🙂

Oh man, this is like a worst case scenario situation for SURE! You poor girl. THis will not last forever I promise.

Oh Amanda….You poor thing.
I was extremely fortunate to not develop hemorrhoids with any of my 3 pregnancies or deliveries.
I hope your virus clears up soon and you get a bit of relief before the delivery!
