In the pouring rain yesterday, I went to my Godaughter’s Christmas Pageant.
It was two hours in a hard chair
Several lines were forgotten
Some characters shouted their lines at the top of their lungs
Some whispered their lines
Some nudged others, some forgot they were on stage and went off into another world, scratching, picking noses, twirling, fidgetting and talking to themselves
a few mouthed everyone else’s lines
one came out with her skirt tucked into her underwear
There was an angel with a halo the size of a toilet seat falling across her face throughout the whole performance
They spoke of charity, hope, forgiveness and kindness.
And a miracle or two.
This is Christmas.
