notes on dating – spilling the beans

December 19, 2011 by Nancy

Beans

It is said that on a first date with a man he will spill the beans. Not just a little bit of  beans but the whole cup o beans.

He will tell you in no uncertain terms exactly what his problems and  hang ups are. He will tell you what went wrong in his marriage, his part in it, whether on Thursday morning he still goes over to his (ex)wife’s house and takes the garbage out for her, if he rents or owns, changes the storm windows in the spring, plows her driveway in a storm, still loves her madly, or  resents her for where he is at, or if he  holds her in high esteem. He will present the whole pie- the financial, the physical, the emotional, the whole can of worms.
He will look to you, eyebrows up, almost questioning or as if to say ‘there isn’t anything wrong with, that is there?’
He will present himself with all the cracks, lay it all on the table and then back up do a 360 as if to say “Here I am- do you want me?”
Pay attention. But also keep in mind your own imperfections tiny as they may be.
