Dinner at the JORO Cafe

February 1, 2011 by Nancy

joro cafe.jpg

Monday nights can be a little flat. Back to work, back to school, back to routine.

But not at the JORO cafe.
If you recall, my divorce has given me many gifts, one most especially the JORO family. When my friend Sam told me she was returning from Winnipeg without her husband and that I should find her a house close by- I looked out my back window and saw the house behind me glowing in the dark saying “buy me” with a For Sale  sign on the front lawn.
Did you hear me? Remember the  childhood fantasy where one of your favourite friends lives next door  and you can run over 1000 times a day and night for no good reason and life can be one big fat playdate ? I get  to have this but now  as a big girl.
Yes they bought the house 48 sidewalk squares from us.
The JO’s are the three of us (Johnston’s) the RO’s are the 3 of them (Ronalds). We eat together a few times a week. It is extremely serious.

 and very very quiet

We had a moment of silence thinking about those at hockey arenas, eating fast foods or having uncomfortable silences and nothing to say to one another.

Pangs of happiness and bittersweet. Truly happy for you Nancy to have such a best friend so close by, you so deserve it because of the person you are inside and out.
By the way, your pink winter outfit, pompom included were utterly inspiring today!!
I so need more pink in my wardrobe stat. I bet there is almost no colour you could not make look amazing.
The idea of a best friend is so dreamy to me, I moved around a lot as a child so I never really got to make the best-friend opportunity happen and it is seems all the awesome ones were snagged by the 7th grade, I still hold out hope though…
    mouaa.

wouldn’t it be so fun if we could line our streets with all our favourites. Grumbler you would be right in there – every street needs a sassy and sweet neat freak with a good looking husband cutting the lawn………
