Spring is here! Wahoo! Wait. It’s effing freezing out and I had to clean snow off my car this morning. Annoying. But I can feel it, it’s close.
Last Spring, I embarked on a lifestyle change to get healthy. All in all, a big success. I sleep better, I lost weight, I haven’t been sick and I generally just feel a million times better than I did last year. For the first time in years I’m not going to be embarrassed taking my bike in a for a tune-up. The wheels are actually worn down! My plan is to get bundled up and hit the bike trail to work again after Easter weekend.
But I don’t want to get bored. Do you get bored with your workout? I think I have the answer. Last week, my friend Susannah sent me this link and said, ‘do you want to try a mini-triathalon with me?’ My initial reaction was to burst out laughing. Right. As if. Then I read about it and I started to get really excited. WHY NOT?
Well..
a. I’m totally claustrophobic and that whole swimming while being kicked in the head thing is worrisome.
b. I ‘ran’ a 5k last summer. In Will’s words ‘mom, why is everyone else running and we’re walking?’. I ran 2 of the 5k and hadn’t swam or biked 20k first.
c. Summer is for drinking beer not doing triathalons.
But I want to do it. I’m really excited. Susannah and I have been plotting out our training. One of the perks? A guarantee of spending time together getting ready for it. Registration is tomorrow and I plan on doing it before I back out.
So that’s my goal this year. I was successful sticking to my biking goal last year so I’m slightly more confident that come August 11th, I won’t be carried off on a stretcher after the race. My goal is the finish line. Hopefully before the sun sets…
What about you? Any Spring resolutions??

Hi Sara, I’m doing the CN Tower Corporate Climb on April 25th. Been training on the back stairs in my building for the past few weeks. Brutal but invigorating at the same time.
