I road tripped this weekend. It was perfect. We were heading to Rochester for a paddle tournament – just to watch. The achilles is still healing (and unfortunately one of my friends blew his out on the weekend…argh!). My friend Mitch and I loaded up in the car and headed to the outlet mall and Tar-jay.
At Target, I found some great cheap lamps. My house is awesome but at night, it’s like a cave – I just haven’t bothered getting any lamps. So I picked up this tiny little one for my living room. I think the shade was $15 and the stand was about $12 (I love you Target). As the guy was ringing all my stuff in, I noticed that he only rang in the stand and not the shade. So I quickly corrected his mistake opted not to tell him and left the store with my goodies, smiling that I had saved $12.
An hour later as we neared Rochester and over the endless chatter…..out came a gigantic deer….literally in the headlights. I squealed – starting honking and swerving and we missed him. It was truly insane. My heart was pounding and we drove in silence for a few minutes. Then we debated what this meant. (Mitch and I are both Oprah and her life lessons fans). We couldn’t think of anything EXCEPT it being an amazing reminder to pay attention…put down the cell phones people because if I had not have been focused, we would have been toast.
We got to the bar and were talking about our trip down, the shopping, the deer …when all of a sudden it hit me. This deer was my mom, giving me crap about being so dishonest about that effing lamp. Lesson learned mom. Lesson learned.
Dude, you deserved it. Sorry. On another note, let’s plan our next get together asap! Christmas at the Blau (I wish), I’ve been checking prices and…ouch.
Oh I felt guilty as soon as I did it….but in my defense (which really isn’t one)…had I not happened to look at the register when he was ringing it in…I would NEVER have known…i.e. I didn’t but the shade on hoping that would happen. Shoplifting implies intent your honour…:)
Hate to rub it in even further as I think you feel guilty already…but you effectively shoplifted, no? 😉
For the amount on $$ that she spent at Target….I think not! I remember the florida house Target trip like ti was yesterday….we filled the car!
