Ever heard the words ‘I hate you’ from one of your kids? How about ‘Avada Kedavra,’ the killing curse from J. K. Rowling’s legendary world of Harry Potter?
One mom tweeted to Rowling today saying “My son’s using ‘Avada Kedavra’ on me instead of saying ‘I hate you.’ Makes me wish there were more killing curses. #HarryPotter”

More moms responded to the post and it turns out the killing curse isn’t an uncommon saying among some families. One woman shared, “my son does that too. I just tell him he’s powerless before me as I am the Dark Lord.”

It wasn’t just moms though that had a perspective to share. One woman tweeted “I’ve been doing the same thing for years to my parents when I’m mad at them and I’m 19 now.”
Rowling came on the scene to offer some words of wisdom, tweeting “Tell him your love would protect him from that curse. Do Dobby eyes as you say it. Should scar(e) him out of it.”
