Follow me here if you can…I know sometimes it’s a challenge.
I’m blind as a bat. Like if I wake up in the morning and can read my clock radio, I know I forgot to take out my contacts. Once I was laying in bed with a boyfriend, he was reading a book and assumed I was reading the same, so he asked if he could turn the page. I howled and said ‘dude I can no more read that than do 100 push ups right now’. Blind.
I’ve worn contacts forever and in my younger, vainer days – I’d never wear my glasses. The only time I had glasses on was at night or if I was sick. This year, I got some new specs. I love them but I still feel awkward when I wear them during the day and that something is amiss.
It’s pissing rain here today so I thought …cool I’ll wear my glasses, no need for shades. And I’ve been off all day. I slipped walking out to the garage after I put a pail under my dripping ac/heater unit. Got to Will’s school to drop him off and had no umbrella. He was wailing and had to be wrenched from my arms – never happens. Picked up my morning coffee and promptly dumped it down my white shirt. WTF???? ARGH!
Now I’m grumpy and convinced that if I had my freaking contacts in, none of this would have happened. Fellow visually impaired people – are you following me here???
**I’m going to get my contacts out of the car and start over….if I can make it without incident**

I’ve had glasses since gr. 3 (I’m 23 no) and up until about 5 years ago my eye sight was getting steadily worse each time I had a checkup.
Im far sighted (ie. I can’t see far away) but my eyes are so bad that, like you, Sarah, I need to wear my glasses just to read a book otherwise I’ll be holding it an inch from my nose and go cross eyed trying to read!!!
I got contacts in gr.10 (or there abouts) and loved them!!! Again, like you, I NEVER wore my glasses unless just before bed or if I was really sick or just bumming around the house.
Up until very recently I vowed I’d never get laser surgery but…it’s pretty convincing and boy would I LOVE to be able to wake up in the morning and just be able to see everything around me or, better yet, fall asleep without having to worry about taking contacts out!!!

This is very funny Sarah- I am trying to remember if you were wearing glasses when we played the stellar ROB2 golf game as we could have used additional excuses.

Did you get a nice new shirt at least?

No visual impairment here, but you sure made me laugh!!!
“WTF Friday” indeed!

Hey Ya… totally get you on this. I too am blind as a bat and typically dislike wearing my glasses out. Like you, only when I HAVE to do I wear my glasses- sick, contact problems, night time, etc. But, because I am a skid I am currently wearing a left contact with a chunk out of it just hoping it will get me through and I have glasses that have been broken since forever and have an old prescription in them. So, thank you dear friend for giving me the ever-so-needed idea of making an eye doctor appointment. I shall do that now.
