Relax…it ain’t what you think it is – because I would assume that actually picking up is still easy!
Nope – my beef today has to do with the brutal pick-ups arranged through Craigslist. Don’t misread me – this isn’t a slam of Craigslist. Love it. Big fan! I actually bought some clothes from a woman for Will and now she’s like my dealer. I get the call when the good stuff comes in, I head over and scope it out and drop some dough for the goods and it works.
For some reason, as a seller, I attract the nuts – sounds much like my past dating life but I digress. A few months ago, I was browsing Craigslist in search of a wagon for Will. I saw a posting from a young college student. She found out she was pregnant and she and her boyfriend were keeping the baby and looking for any free stuff to help out. I leapt at it. Being a single mom, people were exceedingly generous to me in both used and new stuff and I was ready to pass on Will’s baby crap and embrace the toddler. I emailed her right away. A week later I heard back that she’d be so grateful etc. Three weeks later, I gave up and dropped a carload of baby stuff at Goodwill. Time and time again she didn’t show up – but I kept trying. I even offered to drop it off! We talked in the morning, arranged a time and when I got there…she wasn’t home, she was at an appointment that she forgot about!!!
Ummm listen honey, if you can’t remember a doctors appointment that you have in 6 hours…good luck with the whole parenting thing.
This week I listed a chair and table. Again, just trying to make room for toddler stuff. I had one woman who was awesome and kept me in the loop on her plans. **sidenote – We ended up in a full on back and forth about work etc. Made me think of going to a strip joint with my guy friends and I had a full convo with the stripper – ‘only Sara can come to a peeler joint and find someone for a deep discussion.’**
Anyway – I’ve now had 3 people say there were coming to get something and just not show up. WTF??? How rude is that. Where is the courtesy? We all have lives people and I’d rather be in bed sleeping than waiting for you to get to my house to get a table?? The kicker was someone yesterday who asked if I would deliver? Lady, its Craigslist – not Leons?!??!
Am I wrong to think it’s just good manners to show up if you say you’re going to or call if you’re not? Oh and does anyone need an Ikea coffee table? Come on you know you do…and no I won’t deliver!
**Why the monkey? Come on – admit it – monkeys are funny no matter what!**

Many thanks for the write-up. Really appreciated. You more often than not need to search through lots of rubbish to track down a little bit of very good information! Anyone know the most suitable site to pick up freebies within the United kingdom?

My husband and I love Craigslist. After reading your post I realize that we have been really lucky. All of our buyers have arrived promptly with cash in hand. We even sold our kids backyard playground. It took the guy several hours to dismantle and load on his truck. We were so grateful to get rid of it!
When we give things away at no cost, we always provide a specific date and time when it will be left on the curb outside our house. If they don’t show, there are always new takers.

It’s all on good faith. Unfortunately.
I was trying to sell Cuy’s bed on kijiji. A girl made an offer, I accepted and she never got back to me…why bother offering if you don’t want it???
I should try Craiglist…
or maybe not.
