If there’s one thing I want to give my kids, it’s confidence. I want them to be willing to try new things. I want them to take chances. I want them to be able to step out of their comfort zone every now and then.
I don’t want my kids to get that from me. Luckily Sean is very comfortable outside his comfort zone. Trying new things. Taking risks.
Last night, Campbell played the role of Santa in the Christmas concert at school. He made sure we knew that he had the most lines out of anyone in the play – 21 to be exact. I reminded him that talking too much about that part might sound like bragging…so don’t talk too much about that part.
He found out he got the part several weeks ago. We practiced his lines for the first week. He picked them up quick. After that I didn’t hear much about it. Just that he had practice at lunch. They were working on the costumes. The stage was being set up. Tuesday night I realized that the next day was THE day. Two shows. An afternoon performance and and evening performance. I started getting nervous for him.
He did great. SO great.
I don’t think I would have had the confidence at 10 years old to get up on stage and perform in front of an auditorium full of people, while wearing a super hot/sweaty costumes. He nailed it.
Oh and if there was ever any doubt – Santa IS a ginger.
I guess we’re doing something right.
