The girls and I used to have a nightly ritual when my husband traveled constantly a few years back. I would sing them to sleep because, yes, I am an awesome singer….. while rubbing their backs and smoothing their rumpled hair.
Now, I didn’t sing just any lullaby but a song personally crafted for each child.
Celia’s Theme Song:
*Hummmmm…….. Me…Me….Me….MEMEMEME!!!! Just trying to find my key here….*
(Sung to the tune of Barney. AND NO! we did not watch him but the tune was still hammered into my brain while trying to quickly change the t.v. channel when he pranced onto the magical screen.)
“I love you,
Yes, I do!
I love Cel—-ia Myers.
How ’bout you?
Yes, you do!”
Okay, so this was my first attempt in song construction. Pre-school at best. I know.
Moira’s Theme Song:
(Now this song is sung along to the tune from “Bye, Bye Birdie.” “I Love You Conrad…” If you don’t know this song or movie, just go with it. Please don’t make me feel any older than I already do…..Thanks.)
“I love you Moir–aaa,
Oh, yes, I do.
I love you Moir–aaa,
How ’bout you?
When you are sa-a-a-a-d and blue?
Oh, Moir—aaa, Oh, Moir-aaa.
I. Love. You!”
Sadly, I only sing to them these tunes once every month or so since they’ve discovered Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez. Clearly, I’m not a sixteen-year-old girl and cool.
Man, the girls are growing up way too fast.
