Nighttime snacks?

August 4, 2010 by gmartell

My girls are ALWAYS hungry. What can I eat? What can I take?
It never stops.
Any suggestions for after dinner snacks? cheese? fruit?
Or am I just encouraging a bad habit for later in life?

Why is it that my kids seem to be more hungry after dinner than they were before? I guess they aren’t getting enough protein. I usually offer my kids cheese, yogurt or fruit.

My favourite snack to give them that they both like is apple slices smeared with peanut butter.

    water and bread only (kidding).
I usually offer popcorn, milk, apples, cereal before dinner. Usually something with fiber but not a lot of sugar.

All kidding about Rice Krispies aside, we actually do offer (healthy) cereal at night as a snack. Or any other type of breakfast-y food – bagel with cream cheese, toast, fruit, etc…

Rice Krispies – of course!! LOL!
I have no problems giving my kids bedtime snacks. I like to snack after dinner, so I don’t see a problem with them having a healthy snack before bed.
My daughter likes a piece of toast or an applesauce.
My son likes a banana or a yogurt.
My favourite snack to give them that they both like is apple slices smeared with peanut butter.
My other son is not a bedtime snacker but he sure likes to drink alot. We have to really limit his juice…that I have a problem with – too much juice before bed. I try and get him to drink water.
