I’m out of shape. Big time. And I don’t like it. I don’t like my little belly and bum fat, I admit it, some of it is vanity.
But mostly I don’t like being out of breath when climbing a hill in my neighbourhood, which is built into a hill. I want to feel vigorous again.
So, I have some summer goals that I hope will turn into habits I’ll keep into the school year.
Here are my ideas.
When at home:
- Jump on trampoline 20 minutes per day. Doubly good because it’s also quality time with children.
- Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred or The Biggest Loser DVD four times per week.
- Yoga class once a week.
- Biking once or twice a week (I never did bike to work, not even once 🙁 )
When at the cottage:
- Jillian Michaels DVDs.
- Self-directed yoga practice.
- Swimming.
- Walking.
When on holiday in the US.
- Walking
- Morning calisthenics routine – curls, squats, etc.
Anywhere:
- Assorted hikes with family.
- Canoe trip with family.
I think this is pretty realistic. The 30 Day Shred routines is only about 25 minutes and The Biggest Loser is 45. I love the trampoline and yoga. I love walking, hiking and canoeing.
I’ll keep you posted.
Do you have any fitness plans for summer?

I have started a bootcamp with some close friends. We are dong the Game-on Diet competition and I am having a blast. The boot camp is no ordinary workout. I am trying to organize games so that it doesn’t feel like drill push-ups and such. So far it has been a lot of fun. The Game-on Diet is a great way to lose weight and have fun at the same time. Plus you can exercise with any model you like. So Happy Fit Me is a perfect resource for us to use. I hope your exercise regimen goes well. It also sounds super fun!

Good for you – I can say after 10 days away from my biking and diet…I miss it. I miss feeling that burn and feeling good…
Good luck!

I joined a zumba class at my local rec center and all I can say is wow. it was a great workout even though i felt like I was going to pass out. Also I find the summer time is great for changing my diet for the better, more salads, more fruit, less heavy stuff like pastas…that’s my plan for the summer.
