This is always a sad time of year for me. Today especially.
Seven years ago today Madeleine died. Seven years. Wow. Her kids are now ten & eight, they were three & one when she died. She didn’t get to see so many of their firsts. And they don’t have her to…everything.
Today is also my dad’s birthday. He would have been 64 today. It’s been almost six months since he died. Maddy would have been 38, approaching her 39th birthday in March.
I really believe that her death hastened his.
Every year on this day I wish I was with my family honouring and remembering them. It always seems to fall on a week day. I guess I’m searching for some sort of ceremony or tradition around today.
Do you have traditions for anniversaries?
In the meantime, here are the slide shows I created in their memories.

Beautiful video tributes, Erin. Sending lots of virtual hugs through the computer for you and your family.
Christine says
((hugs)) to you.
Sisters are so important and I’m so sorry you had to lose yours as young as you did. You are doing right by her with that beautiful slideshow and memories to pass down to her children xoxo

it’s nice (i think) to have the videos and pictures of those we love now…especially for the kids. they will remember her voice and her way of doing things. hughughug…
Jennifer says
Thinking of you today, Erin. Be good to yourself and allow yourself to do whatever feels right. Maybe some years that will mean a celebration of their memories, while other years may be a little more introspective.

Oh Erin. What a hard time of year – a double whammy. Thinking of you and sending big hugs. This year, on the anniversary of my mom’s death we got together with her closest buddies and played cards (she loved to) and drank vodka tonics (her other love!). It was one of the best ‘anniversaries’ that we’ve had. I felt surrounded by her and realized that 11years later, she still has such an impact on all of us. xxx

XOXOXOXO I will be thinking of you today, Erin, and remembering Madeleine and Uncle Doug.
