Yesterday we all went back to school. For me, it’s been good so far. For the girls, not so much.
Day one Fiona cried a lot. She missed me. Every time she sees me she wants to come with me. Sophie also, but she wasn’t crying. It started at second recess. Fiona hid behind the garbage can and cried while Sophie tried to comfort her.
Yesterday, day two was a bit better. This time Sophie had some tears in the class room but they both played and had fun at recess. I have duty in their area at the morning recess so they love to see me then.
I also teach them gym and they look forward to that all day. Because I’m their teacher for gym.
Last night they kept saying how much they missed me all day and how they wished our whole family could be in the same class. It’s heart breaking. I miss them too.
I see all sorts of posts on Facebook about how happy people are to have their kids back at school, but I miss them. Back to school gives me less me time than summer does. And it gives me a lot less twin time. Sigh.
I still dream about home schooling but that’s all it is.
I hope today is even better for the girls and they start interacting more with the other kids. That’s one thing about their twin ship, they have each other so they don’t need to make friends quickly. It takes them time to warm up, get to know kids, and interact with them. Just like their mama!
How has your back to school gone?

Things are okay on our end – my second-grader is still tip-toeing around his screecher teacher, and we’re still trying to settle into the homework groove (holy crap) but he eats well and sleeps well. Madame is so happy to see her friends at school again, she gladly skipped into the preschool yard this week. I confess, I do not miss them very much during the day, but I’m happy to see them when they come home. 🙂
Sounds like things are going reasonably well for your girls – they’re so small still. And yes, they have each other… and their mum for gym class too? Far out!! There’s a lot of newness for your family this September – it’ll be smoother in another week or so… the new normal. Good luck, lady!! xox

My boys are loving school! Hopefully this honeymoon period lasts for awhile.
Eva is a bit miffed that she doesn’t start yet (I won’t rant again about staggered entry…). She has a half day next Tuesday and her first full day next Friday (she goes Tues/Thurs every other Friday). She is counting down the days!

Great! My kids LOVE school. At least for now 😉 But they do find staying home boring so we never have an issue. The only problem? My daughter got a stomach bug and has missed day #2 and #3! She is desperate to get back!!
Hope your girls settle in.

Well, aside from losing my mind because the bus was 25 minutes late dropping her off. And this morning’s tantrum about how much she doesn’t WANT to go to school she just wants to learn stuff at HOME. I guess, it hasn’t gone too badly. It would be easier for me if I were 100% sold on public school. I think because I’m still not sure the classroom is the best place for her, she and I are having a more difficult time comforting each other through this transition than we otherwise would.
