1. They have a best friend and playmate from day one.
I’m not sure if all twins are like this but mine play together all day long. It’s wonderful. For them and for me. I get to do some stuff around the house, or here on this blog, and they are having a grand old time.
2. They argue.
This may not seem like a plus but it is. When they argue they are learning how to problem solve and resolve conflict. As they get older I intervene less and less. I’ve helped them with some problem solving strategies and now I see them using them. Taking turns, asking for the timer, flipping a coin, etc. I know that this happens with all sibling but there is no size advantage here (I remember using the size advantage against my sister sometimes) and that even the playing field.
3. Double the snuggles.
When we have snuggles, I have one on either side of me, making a mommy sandwich. I love it. They are used to sharing my lap and my arms so they can settle in to the double snuggle really well.
4. Twinversations
I get to listen to their conversations. I’ve written a few posts on them, they are so cute and funny. I often get a good laugh out of them. Or some insight into how they are feeling or what they think about things.
5. The genetics are fascinating.
I’ve always found genetics interesting (although not enough to study it in university). I read a lot about genes and twins. Mine are mono-zygotic so they share nuclear DNA but they are so different. The nature/nurture debate also fascinates me and twins have always been studied from that perspective.
6. Double the cuteness.
See photo above. Nuff said.
7. Being a part of MBC & TMB.
Getting and giving support through these organizations has help me grow in so many ways. I really enjoy helping other moms. Now I’m starting to participate a bit more on the national level and really enjoy being an advocate for the rights of multiples.
8. Twice the artwork.
OK, OK, that one is a blessing and a curse. What to do with it all? I do love watching their skills develop and change over time. It’s amazing how they influence one another also, copying each other and discussing their pieces.
9. One pregnancy & delivery. Two babies.
I didn’t hate being pregnant, it was fine. But I didn’t love it like some people do. I certainly have no desire to do it again. Or to deliver again. I got my family all at once.
10. Double the love.

I like #2. Yes, sometimes it seems like a negative but all sibligns fight. And as you pointed out it teaches them to problem solve. It also helps them learn to negotiate and compromise with others. Big plus!

Oh, they’re cuties! I have a friend with three month-old twin boys so I am getting to witness first-hand all the cool things she’s experiencing with them. It’s a wonder of nature, if you ask me. 🙂
