Here’s are some sites that have been inspiring and entertaining me this week.
Here’s a short interview with Ken Robinson when he was asked the question “What is the purpose of school“.
This one gave me a much needed laugh. Be prepared to laugh until you cry. It has almost 400 comments. Obviously I have find some really funny photos and write witty descriptions of them to up my readership and commenting.
I really enjoy reading Phd in Parenting regularly and I was particularly interested in this post about Nurture vs Nature because twin studies are often quoted in discussions about heredity and environment. I agree with Phd on this topic and think she has done an excellent job of presenting evidence to back up her opinion. She also created a graphic that gives a visual representation of her thoughts.
The Nurture vs Nature post led me down some bunny trails. On trail ended up here, with a review of a book called Twins and What They Tell Us About Who We Are by Lawrence Wright. This New York Times article, Separated by Birth by Natalie Angier, gives a nice summary of the book and is a discussion of nurture vs nature in itself. I’ve been fascinated by this topic since high school, when I wrote a paper on the issue.
That post also reminded me of the comments on Jen’s post, It Gets Better Canada. The comments got onto the topic of whether sexual orientation is inhereted or if it is a lifestyle choice. Some people broght up twin studies and I had to respond with what I know about that. There are a lot of comments so you will have to scroll right down to almost the end to get to my response.
Those are my offerings for today. It’s been a crazy week, so I haven’t been surfing that much. I hope you enjoy them. Where have you been surfing this week?
