The Vancouver District School Board is closed from March 9 to the 23rd for March Break. While school is out, there are plenty of exciting and fun activities both children and families throughout the city.
Skate The Dry Spot Indoor
Located in South Vancouver, this indoor skate park offers lessons for those who want to try skateboarding for the first time or who want to progress their abilities. They offer two March Break day camps.
Hive Bouldering Gym
The Hive specializes in bouldering, which is similar to rock climbing but with no harnesses needed. Children age 6 to 12 are invited to attend the five-day camp.
Indoor Trampoline Park
The Extreme Air Park in Richmond offers 42,000 square feet of interconnected trampolines with 2 main jump courts, dodgeball, basketball, and a foam pit.
Springbreak Kids SUP Camp
Springbreak Kids Sup Camp offers week-long surf camps as well as drop-in spots.
Andy Warhol Exhibit
While not a great choice for younger children, parents with older children might want to recommend this free exhibit to their older teenagers. Many of the works are from Warhol’s Socialites series and works include portraits of the social elite of his day, including Marilyn Monroe with canary yellow hair and pink lips.
Warhol – A Different Idea of Love runs from March 1-March 30 at the Maison Al warehouse at 1280 Homer St. in Vancouver’s Yaletown neighbourhood.
Spring Break Scavenger Hunt: Games
Burnaby Village Museum presents Spring Break Scavenger Hunt: Games. The hunt takes place throughout the Burnaby Village. For those who complete the hunt, a special treat is available. There is one scavenger hunt per day throughout the break.
AquaCamp
Aqua Camp takes place at the Vancouver Aquarium. Children will learn about local and exotic animals, life cycles, food webs, adaptations, ecosystems and sustainability.
The Secret Garden
BlueShore Financial Centre for the Performing Arts presents The Secret Garden. The story is based on the novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett. The show is recommended for kids over the age of 8.
