If you are keeping up with the Kardashians at all (aka following Kourtney Kardashian on Instagram), you would now know that the mother of three is enjoying one of the great perks of post-pregnancy life — having her encapsulated placenta!
The reality star, who gave birth to her son back in December, shared a picture of her placenta pills earlier this week, declaring to the world just how wonderful they are. “Yummy…PLACENTA pills! No joke…I will be sad when my placenta pills run out. They are life changing!#benefits #lookitup.”

The benefits of eating placenta have been widely debated in the medical community, but because Kourtney told us to oh-so-nicely (not really), we actually decided to #lookitup.
Since the placenta is said to be jam-packed with nutrients, eating it after childbirth is said to help new moms with postpartum recovery. Some say it helps boosts energy levels, helps increase milk production and decrease chances of postpartum depression. But unfortunately there hasn’t been enough studies to prove any of these claims. However that hasn’t stopped a whole fleet of celebrity moms from trying it out for themselves. January Jones, Mayim Bialik, and Alicia Silverstone haven all reportedly eaten their placenta as well!
You do you, ladies! We’re just glad mama Kourt is feeling happy and healthy. Next time though, refrain from using condescending hashtags, okay Kourtney… #sorrynotsorry.
